Today in L.A class, we discussed our answers for last night’s homework, and our opinions about who we think started the smoke in the Westing home. I think it was Westing, the man who was “so called dead”, because I think he is tricking everybody into thinking that he is dead when really he’s alive……..to seek revenge?! Well, I am really not sure, but who do you think started to fire? Also, in class today Mrs.E asked us if we collected anything. We all took 10 minutes or so and explained what we collected. Then, Mrs.E passed out a paper to each one of us, and read the article that was on the paper. The article was about some boy who was writing to a comic book magazine editor stating his opinions on the article he read about in their magazine.. Tomorrow in class we will work and discuss more about the article!

As Miss.V said, “The majority of the grade did well!” {2nd} After we all enjoyed looking at our tests, we learned how to use negative numbers on a calculator. The symbol that you can use to work with negative numbers is the OPP button. But there is no such thing as that kind of a button, so you can use the +/- button instead. Here’s and example when to use the +/- button………..

-22-{-13}=

So go get a calculator and figure it out!!!

Recently in Social Studies class, our class watched an informative and interesting movie about India. India is the second largest place in the world. And also, the cow is their scared animal! Have you ever wondered what the capital of India is? Well, I’ll tell you! It’s New Delhi! Another fun India fact is that the total population of India is 1,028,610,328 of which there are 827,578,868 followers of the Hindu faith.

One of the cities that the movie talked about was Agra. Agra is just like a regular Indian city, but then, their ground holds the Taj Mahal. Some people say the beautiful Taj Mahal is the biggest building built for love. The idea of the Taj Mahal was made up by Emperor Mumtaz Mahal. Mumtaz was so in love with his wife that when she died, he decided to built a Mausoleum in memory of her. {definition on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mausoleum}  I was really interested in the Taj Mahal, so I decided to do additional reasearch.  Did you know that the name Taj Mahal when translated means “Crown Palace” or “Crown of the Palace.”  Also some studies feel that the Taj Mahal is slowly sinking.  What a shame! I got my research information from here. {library.thinkquest.org/J0112263/dyk/funfact.html }

  Also in the movie, we learned about Karmas. Do you know what a Karma is? A Karma is a hinduism belief. The Karma goes something like this: “What you did yesterday affects today, but what you did today affects tomarrow.” Personally, I think the Karma makes a lot of sence because I think what it really means is that in Life theres always a consequence after an action.

Latley in the movie, we learned about Delhi. Delhi is known for all the hussle and bussle on thier streets. But, the most populaur part of Delhi is thier Corbitt national Park! Corbitt national Park is a popular place to see animals such as Elephants,Tigers, Leopards, and Crocodiles. Corbitt National Park gives free Elephant rides too!

So know you know about the wonderful India movie that I watched in Social Studies class. Dont you think India is interesting or what?!

Did you know that oil is the single most important item that is traded between countries? Yes, oil is very valuable to everything and anyone! Without oil it would be difficult to heat our homes, drive our cares, and much more! If we didn’t have oil, where would we be?
There are about 2.6 trillion barrels of oil left in the ground! That seams like a lot of oil, but M. King Hubbert predicted that in 1907, that the oil pumped from the U.S fields would peak, and it did! Peak Production is when the flow of petroleum from any oil field climbs to a peak {top} then declines quickly. M. King Hubbert predicts that the world oil production will peak in 2030. Image that! Life without any oil!

O.P.E.C stands for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries! Algeria ,Iran Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia the United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, Qatar, Nigeria, and Libya take part in O.P.E.C and control how much oil they let out for people to use. When there is a lot of oil, the price of oil is less expensive because there is more of it. But when there isn’t a lot of oil, the price is more expensive because a lot of people rely on oil because it is more valuable!

A lot of people want to find alternatives ways to not use oil as much. For example, my dad burns corn in something called a Qaudra-Fire pellet/corn burning stove. That helps our family heat or house with not using oil. IburnCorn has an interesting message board where people from all around the world can come and talk about ways not to use oils as much! Another oil free chose that people mask, is to drive Hybrids! Hybrids do use oil, but not as much as regular cars do!

I really like the article that Emma wrote and I hope that more people can read it and find out more about oil, and how much is left!
