L.A Scribe Post/Wensday April 2nd
Today in L.A class, we discussed our answers for last night’s homework, and our opinions about who we think started the smoke in the Westing home. I think it was Westing, the man who was “so called dead”, because I think he is tricking everybody into thinking that he is dead when really he’s alive……..to seek revenge?! Well, I am really not sure, but who do you think started to fire? Also, in class today Mrs.E asked us if we collected anything. We all took 10 minutes or so and explained what we collected. Then, Mrs.E passed out a paper to each one of us, and read the article that was on the paper. The article was about some boy who was writing to a comic book magazine editor stating his opinions on the article he read about in their magazine.. Tomorrow in class we will work and discuss more about the article!
Homework: None!!
Here is another book title of The Westing Game!
Math Scribe Post/May 1rst 2007
Today in math class, {1rst} we got our math test’s back. As Miss.V said, “The majority of the grade did well!” {2nd} After we all enjoyed looking at our tests, we learned how to use negative numbers on a calculator. The symbol that you can use to work with negative numbers is the OPP button. But there is no such thing as that kind of a button, so you can use the +/- button instead. Here’s and example when to use the +/- button………..
-22-{-13}=
So go get a calculator and figure it out!!!

on the Oregon trail and stops in Montana for a rest, Her dad and
brothers get lost. Janett now has to live on her own! So she has to

Interesting,Intelligent,Informative, INDIA!!!
Recently in Social Studies class, our class watched an informative and interesting movie about India. India is the second largest place in the world. And also, the cow is their scared animal! Have you ever wondered what the capital of India is? Well, I’ll tell you! It’s New Delhi! Another fun India fact is that the total population of India is 1,028,610,328 of which there are 827,578,868 followers of the Hindu faith.
One of the cities that the movie talked about was Agra. Agra is just like a regular Indian city, but then, their ground holds the Taj Mahal. Some people say the beautiful Taj Mahal is the biggest building built for love. The idea of the Taj Mahal was made up by Emperor Mumtaz Mahal. Mumtaz was so in love with his wife that when she died, he decided to built a Mausoleum in memory of her. {definition on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mausoleum} I was really interested in the Taj Mahal, so I decided to do additional reasearch. Did you know that the name Taj Mahal when translated means “Crown Palace” or “Crown of the Palace.” Also some studies feel that the Taj Mahal is slowly sinking. What a shame! I got my research information from here. {library.thinkquest.org/J0112263/dyk/funfact.html }
Also in the movie, we learned about Karmas. Do you know what a Karma is? A Karma is a hinduism belief. The Karma goes something like this: “What you did yesterday affects today, but what you did today affects tomarrow.” Personally, I think the Karma makes a lot of sence because I think what it really means is that in Life theres always a consequence after an action.
Latley in the movie, we learned about Delhi. Delhi is known for all the hussle and bussle on thier streets. But, the most populaur part of Delhi is thier Corbitt national Park! Corbitt national Park is a popular place to see animals such as Elephants,Tigers, Leopards, and Crocodiles. Corbitt National Park gives free Elephant rides too!
So know you know about the wonderful India movie that I watched in Social Studies class. Dont you think India is interesting or what?!
A Crude Awakening! By Emma Davey
Did you know that oil is the single most important item that is traded between countries? Yes, oil is very valuable to everything and anyone! Without oil it would be difficult to heat our homes, drive our cares, and much more! If we didn’t have oil, where would we be?
There are about 2.6 trillion barrels of oil left in the ground! That seams like a lot of oil, but M. King Hubbert predicted that in 1907, that the oil pumped from the U.S fields would peak, and it did! Peak Production is when the flow of petroleum from any oil field climbs to a peak {top} then declines quickly. M. King Hubbert predicts that the world oil production will peak in 2030. Image that! Life without any oil!
O.P.E.C stands for the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries! Algeria ,Iran Indonesia, Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia the United Arab Emirates, Venezuela, Qatar, Nigeria, and Libya take part in O.P.E.C and control how much oil they let out for people to use. When there is a lot of oil, the price of oil is less expensive because there is more of it. But when there isn’t a lot of oil, the price is more expensive because a lot of people rely on oil because it is more valuable!
A lot of people want to find alternatives ways to not use oil as much. For example, my dad burns corn in something called a Qaudra-Fire pellet/corn burning stove. That helps our family heat or house with not using oil. IburnCorn has an interesting message board where people from all around the world can come and talk about ways not to use oils as much! Another oil free chose that people mask, is to drive Hybrids! Hybrids do use oil, but not as much as regular cars do!
I really like the article that Emma wrote and I hope that more people can read it and find out more about oil, and how much is left!

Today in Social Studies Class, we took our test on Turkey and Israel! After everybody was done taking their tricky tests, we looked at different peoples Kemal Aturk essays on Mr.H’s new favorite toy……..the Smart board!
Kemal Ataturk {Mestafa Kemal} Essay
Dear Elizibeth,
I was so happy to hear from you! Hope all is well with your family! Things have been going very well for me and my family since Kemal Aturk {Mestafa Kemal} started ruling our country her in Turkey. We call hims “the father of the Turks”. Did I ever tell you about him? He started ruling about 15 years ago. Kemal is our first President of the Turkish Republic. Before that he took a big part in the military that overthrew the Ottoman Salton in 1909. Kemal so far is the only turkish head of the military to get famous during a war! When he was younger he started out in the Young Turks, a group of young turks who have a lot of different opinions about how our country should be ruled. He used all his War times influence to group together a group of military soldiers that drove out the allied occupying forces out of turkey in the early 1920’s. He became the president of the Turkish Republic in 1923. My life in Turkey has changed since of the end of World War 1 under Ataturk, because now I can dress more casual! and I don’t have to wear horrid vial that itches so much! I feel a lot more comfortable now in my new clothes! Also Kemal encourages woman to have jobs now! I work now as a clerk in a local business! Also Kemal introduced everybody to an alphabet based on Roman alphabet used for western languages! Now all newspapers and books are printed in the roman alphabet! The children in my neighbr hood now, go to school in stead of getting home schooled! I think this is so great! And now this is the most exciting news of all…..Woman get the right to vote in local elections! Kemal said that he wants woman to have more say in what is going on in our country! Well I must go now, but I hope I hear from you soon! See ya!
Enclosed is a picture of Kemal Ataturk
-Meghan P.S, I got most of my resources from this site

He’s giving thanks to the Troops
Dylan Desilva has sent over 1,157 care packages to troops serving in Iraq and Afghanistan over the past two years. Dylan got the idea of doing this process when he was a boy scout. His boy scout troop sent packages to six soldiers. And then after that the soldiers kept sending back more letters asking him to send more over. Dylan has lots of help from his friends, family and just anyone who wants to volunteer. Dylan puts letters in his packages that says ”if you know anyone that isn’t getting packages please send this to them”. Dylan reports that he gets letters back at least twice a week!
In my opinion , I think what Dylan is doing is really nice and caring because Dylan is helping those who can’t help themselves because they are fighting for the other country’s freedom. When I was doing some research on this topic, I learned that Dylan is holding and sponsoring many events to get donations for “Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops”.
Below is an old example of how Dylan gets donations.
Cape Cod Cares for Our Troops needs your support.
But if you want to see how “Time For Kids” wrote an artical about Dylan and his Troop Process, click here
Thanks!!!!!
