Interesting,Intelligent,Informative, INDIA!!!
Recently in Social Studies class, our class watched an informative and interesting movie about India. India is the second largest place in the world. And also, the cow is their scared animal! Have you ever wondered what the capital of India is? Well, I’ll tell you! It’s New Delhi! Another fun India fact is that the total population of India is 1,028,610,328 of which there are 827,578,868 followers of the Hindu faith.
One of the cities that the movie talked about was Agra. Agra is just like a regular Indian city, but then, their ground holds the Taj Mahal. Some people say the beautiful Taj Mahal is the biggest building built for love. The idea of the Taj Mahal was made up by Emperor Mumtaz Mahal. Mumtaz was so in love with his wife that when she died, he decided to built a Mausoleum in memory of her. {definition on en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mausoleum} I was really interested in the Taj Mahal, so I decided to do additional reasearch. Did you know that the name Taj Mahal when translated means “Crown Palace” or “Crown of the Palace.” Also some studies feel that the Taj Mahal is slowly sinking. What a shame! I got my research information from here. {library.thinkquest.org/J0112263/dyk/funfact.html }
Also in the movie, we learned about Karmas. Do you know what a Karma is? A Karma is a hinduism belief. The Karma goes something like this: “What you did yesterday affects today, but what you did today affects tomarrow.” Personally, I think the Karma makes a lot of sence because I think what it really means is that in Life theres always a consequence after an action.
Latley in the movie, we learned about Delhi. Delhi is known for all the hussle and bussle on thier streets. But, the most populaur part of Delhi is thier Corbitt national Park! Corbitt national Park is a popular place to see animals such as Elephants,Tigers, Leopards, and Crocodiles. Corbitt National Park gives free Elephant rides too!
So know you know about the wonderful India movie that I watched in Social Studies class. Dont you think India is interesting or what?!

Posted February 25, 2007, 9:07 pmGreat post Meghan. Two clarifications. Be careful when making general conclusions about other cultures. Just because Indian people respect animals does not lead to the conclusion that they do not take care of their children. You will notice that many animals in the video’s and pictures are thin and undernurished. This is because when there is a shortage of food, the people eat first, then the animals have what is left over. Also, Karma is the Hindu idea described by the saying, not the saying itself.
